Know More

We evaluate children through a combination of play based assessments and discussion with parents.

• You will initially be seen by Early interventionist, who will undertake all domains evaluations and assess the difficulties.

• Based on the difficulties you will be advised to see one or more of the other team members.

• Subsequently collation of information about the child is made and parents will be informed of the problems or diagnosis.

• You may be offered advice in the form of a report.

• Those who work with the child have written information which is always given to the family.

• Parents are encouraged to be fully involved in the development of a management plan for their child.

• Parents are also expected to develop their own skills in using the appropriate strategies to support their child on a daily basis.

Occupational therapy with children and youth may take a variety of forms. For example:

• Promoting a wellness program in schools to prevent childhood obesity

• Facilitating handwriting development in school-aged children

• Providing individualized treatment for sensory processing difficulties

• Teaching coping skills to a child with generalized anxiety disorder

How Sensory integration helps to support children:

At Nischala CDC, our experts are well trained in Sensory Integration (SI) to evaluate and address children’s sensory processing disorders. The therapist works in close coordination with the child in a playful environment to help remove the obstacles which hinder the process of learning, allowing them to calm down and focus which is not possible without the OT due to their sensory processing disorder.

Based on the activity levels, low or high of the child, Sensory integration therapy is planned, the main focus is to ameliorate the capability of the brain to function and process sensory information for the child to perform their daily routines/activities.
